Cell Phone Mobile Marketing

In a session on Mobile Communications 2.0′ at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Facebooks VP of User Growth, Mobile and International Expansion Chamath Palihapitiya shared the social networking giants current mobile strategy and its plans for the future.

Mogreet and American Greetings Corp. have partnered for MMS ecards and Clickatell estimates that consumers will send 1.15 billion text messages on Valentine’s Day.  Read more @ Mobile Marketing. Not sure if that stat is right because Mashable has a post that daily text messages are at 4.3 billion a day.  So I’m either reading one of these posts wrong are one of them is wrong.  Either way that’s a huge amount of texts!

Mashable does a good post on the Detroit Red Wings using QR codes and mobile devices for marketing.

Big numbers from a huge social networking site.  Facebook mobile is 100 million users strong.

This video has some great information on the importance of mobile in the future.  It’s based on the auto industry but the majority of it can be applied to all industries.
